Quantity Surveying

RBC are happy to provide our building consultancy services in whole or part to both Main Contractors and Subcontractors. We operate throughout the South East of England, covering East and West  Sussex, Hampshire, Dorset,Somerset,Wiltshire,Berkshire, Hertfordshire, Kent, London and surrounding counties

For repetitive commissions to prepare tenders, we are happy to agree a “Pain and Gain” fee tariff to share the “pain” of necessary but abortive tender costs, balanced by “gain” from successful business

There is no charge for an initial consultation and quotation

Pre Contract

  • Building Surveying
  • Party Wall Agreements (if Client delegates this responsibility)
  • Preparation of construction programmes and critical path programmes with provision to record progress as a separate bar line (using specialist software)
  • Preparation of Tenders using computerised programs either with our own library of costs, or utilising your own cost library
  • In undertaking the above we will liaise with your Supply Chain and, where appropriate, meet with Specialist Suppliers

We use electronic programs to calculate and present our tenders with all rates and quantities itemised. This enables greater confidence in setting the margin percentage and enables your QS post contract to use the tender document for budget letting purposes when appointing Labour, Plant and Material resources, together with Cost Control during the works stage

We also draft Tender letters to the Employer clearly setting out allowances and assumptions made in the Tender to ensure that the Employer can quickly adjust your Tender for comparison with others. The draft Tender letter will also identify areas for the Employer that may be uneconomical or perhaps un-buildable

Construction phase

  • Project Management or Management Support to level required
  • Preparation of Health and Safety Plans, COSHH compliance, Method Statements, Risk Assessments and RIDDOR compliance

  • General day to day assistance as may be required e.g. issue of subcontract and material enquiries
  • Attendance at Site Meetings
  • Cost control and reports comparing cost to budget to detail movements in the margin percentage, with recommended action to maintain the target percentage
  • Valuations with the Employer or his representative, including pricing and reporting on Change Instructions and the implications that these instructions may have on the construction programme
  • Managing Relevant Events, Contractual claims and dispute resolution
  • Attendance at handover
